Diversity has direct and surprising positive effects on your business. Not only can it yield a range of beneficial impacts but it can also help limit some of the more extreme tendencies your teams may face. It is a proposition I recently put forward in an article for Acquisition International and one that I’d like to reflect on here.
Through our 25 years of experience, we’ve observed that most current and desired cultures can be described by one or more of six cultural archetypes. This article focuses on the People-First Culture. Some other words for People-First? Empowerment, development, safety, care, relationships, and fun.
I am currently working with two clients who suffer from opposite symptoms.
One organisation is drowning in action, people have no time to stop, everything is a priority and there is a frenzy of activity. The other organisation is slow, people take ages to get things done, and they sometimes get bored. Interestingly, I have found that they both suffer from an identical issue: a lack of empowerment.
